A fan-made league concept that seeks to enhance crafting in Path of Exile.
Welcome to the Arcanist League, exile! With a focus on crafting and item generation, this league is designed with the following aims; introduce a sense of growth to crafting — the more you craft, the better you are at it; add more complexity and choice into the process; and finally, provide more reasons for players to explore crafting.

Firencio, the Master of the Arcane, joins the ranks of the Forsaken Masters in the Arcanist League. Similar to his peers, Firencio is encountered at random as you journey across Wraeclast, where he offers his own unique brand of missions in exchange for rewards such as Arcanist experience, new currency items and crafting gear.
Firencio offers two types of missions: Crafting & Requisitions.
Meet the Master of the Arcane
Missions: Crafting
For Crafting missions, you will be given a quest item to improve upon based on given requirements. Firencio's requests are wide ranging; early missions are as simple as having to add 1 or 2 sockets to a pair of gloves, or improving a helmet till it achieves a required evasion rating... while more advanced ones could be as challenging as having to craft a certain number of combined elemental resists onto a ring.
Whatever the requirements, you have the freedom to fulfill them however you like, be it through the your choice of currencies used or by master crafting. If you impress Firencio by exceeding his expectations significantly, you stand a chance at acquiring better rewards.

Missions: Requisition
For Requisition missions, your task is to help Firencio arm a companion whose gear is sorely in need of improvement. Requisitions are generally more challenging; there are requirements to fulfill, but unlike Crafting missions, the items to be submitted must be self-found and crafted upon within the same map.
In most cases, these requirements will take into account the combined stats of all items submitted. Make sure to also take note of the companion's stats, otherwise they might not be able equip the items you turn in!
While undertaking a Requisition, you may not leave the area — doing so will auto fail the mission (this is to prevent player trading). To ensure you're able to complete the quest, maps wtih Requistion missions will spawn extra containers and monsters with increased drop rate for currencies & relevant item bases.

Grow as an Arcanist
Apart from gaining favour with the master, completing Firencio's missions also rewards you with Arcanist experience, and access to Firencio's Coffer. Earning Arcanist experience raises your Arcanist level, which in turn unlocks more challenging missions and greater rewards. Firencio's Coffers are loaded with currencies and all-new crafting gear — equipment that enhances your aptitude at crafting.
For missions with bonus objectives, achieving them would add a +50% Increased Item Quantity property to Firencio's Coffer.
Collect the tools of the Arcanist
These special crafting equipment can only be acquired as rewards by completing Firencio's missions, or through player trading. They have their own unique sets of explicit and implicit properties which can be crafted through the usual means.
Similar to how normal equipment work, crafting gear with higher item levels can spawn higher tiered properties, but in turn have higher Arcanist level requirements.

Switch between combatant and crafter
As many of Firencio's missions are undertaken in the wild, a new gear set function will be implemented into the inventory menu, allowing you to switch between your combat and crafting gear with a single key press.

Apart from crafting gear, Firencio's rewards also includes all-new currencies that add a new dimension to crafting.

With Vaal Fragments, you may now corrupt your currencies, with a single fragment applying its effect on all orbs within a single stack. Effects range from enhancing the functions of your currencies, making them unusable on items of certain rarity, to transforming them into something else entirely.
As is the case with Vaal Orbs, their usage must be considered carefully!

Compete in the Daily Challenge
Designed to seek out the best, the Daily Challenge is a competition that pits you against other Arcanists in the league. A set of requirements are defined on the challenge's detail page, and points will be awarded based on how well your submitted craft fulfills those requirements. Anyone can take part!
The competition concludes and changes every 24 hours. Here are a few sample ideas for what's possible:
- Craft a vicious physical damage dagger.
Points are awarded for PDPS, accuracy, critical strike chance and multiplier. - Craft an amulet & two rings with life-based mods.
Points are awarded for maximum life, life regen, life leech and life gained on kill.
When the competition ends, the top 10 crafters based on their score will win prizes such as crafting uniques and high-end currencies, with the top player winning one of these challenge-exclusive rewards:
